Today’s Peruvian mountain bike ride will help you ease into exercising in high elevation. Begin your journey from Lake Titicaca and ride until you reach Juliaca. After admiring the church in the Plaza de Armas, you’ll get back on your bike and head towards the backroads. The gentle ascent winds to a quaint Andean community, Trapiche de Palca. You’ll spend the night camping near here.

Explore the Cañon de Tinajani
Today’s ride may be the shortest, but it’s definitely not the easiest! Get ready for a montage of outstanding Peruvian views and natural wonders along the trail. After you pass by the lake of Vila Vila, you’ll begin your ascent to the highest point of this biking adventure (4500m). Once you catch your breath, enjoy your descent to Cañon de Tinajani. En route, you’ll travel by one of the largest forests of puya raimondii (a cactus that soars to 13 metres high). Get off your bike and admire the plants! To top it off, the Cañon de Tinajani will have you snapping endless photos—it’s stunning. Bask in the surrounding scenery as you camp nearby overnight.

Begin your day of adventure by cycling along the ever-so stunning Lake Langui, where the scenic shore will keep you entertained for around 35 kilometres. Soon, the chilled-out morning ride will morph into a steep, challenging climb until you veer off to San Pedro. You’ll then cycle on a less-travelled dirt path downhill to Urubamba Valley, near the town of Rachi. If time allows, you may even get a chance to visit some Inca ruins. Enjoy lunch here before continuing towards Sacred Valley for your overnight campsite!

You’ll follow the Rio Urubamba, which will take you in the direction of the renowned World Heritage Site. En route, enjoy views that act as a precursor to Machu Picchu, such as Lake Huarcarpay, lunch next to an Inca gate, and, of course, Pisac—the goal of today’s journey!
