It was a fantastic trip and Nadine was extremely responsive to all of our questions.
Independent arrival in Trapani and overnight stay. Enjoy an impressive historical centre and capital port to the Egadi Islands.
Today you will pedal in total relaxation! The panoramic road coasts the sea where the sight of the flow mills on the salinas is amazing. You will then have the chance to visit the little island of Mozia, where you will find an archaeological site and a private museum.
A bit further, you’ll reach Marsala, a beautiful town on the sea where a special liqueur called the “Marsala'' is produced. Consider a wine tasting here.
Today you will have the chance to visit the town, do some wine tasting in one of the many local wineries, or just relax. Otherwise, you can cross the sea and visit one of the beautiful Egadi Islands, explore the islands, enjoy the seaside or walk. Then you will reach the town of Mazara del Vallo, a very nice town with a “Kasbah” and known for the bronze statue called the “Dancing Satyr.”
This stage is really great. You will cycle along the coast admiring the amazing views of the Aegadi Islands and you will cycle inland among vineyards and olive trees. After cycling you will relax, admiring the archaeology in the most wide open park in Europe. The archaeological park surrounding Selinunte and its monuments extends about 1300 meters east to west.
Today involves an amazing ride from sea level to Sicily inland, storied by history and traditions with hills and flat terrain, little uphills and long descents through forests and cultivated grounds all the way to the little town of Sambuca di Sicilia.
Corleone was an ancient punic-sicilian centre, the first installation built upon the hill above the village. Inside a scenery of great effect, you will pedal along countryside. Corleone is also known to be the “town of one hundred churches”, the most famous being the Main Church founded around the year 1000. But Corleone is better known to be the place where the movie “The Godfather” of Francis Ford Coppola was spoke of.
The last day of cycling gives you breathtaking views and exciting moments. Do not miss the “cannolo”, a typical sicilian cake in Piana degli Albanesi. You will then reach the town of Monreale which origins are from an arab village along the slopes of Monte Caputo, 310m above sea level. The Dome, being built by William II between 1172 and 1176, is what is known most about the town of Monreale.
Breakfast marks the end of the tour. From here, you will depart.
