This morning you’ll set out on the road following a delicious breakfast to make the journey to Bukit Lawang. This small village, around 90km northwest of Medan, is situated along the picturesque Bohorok River and is the gateway to the Gunung Leuser National Park.

Enjoy another relaxed breakfast this morning before getting picked up from your hotel to set out on a stroll along the river. Next, you’ll hop in a canoe for a short paddle to the opposite riverbank. Then it’s time to lace up your shoes for a short hike to an incredible viewpoint where you can spot an array of wildlife, including swinging orangutans if you’re lucky!

With your expert local guide, depart from the viewpoint, to walk deeper into Gunung Leuser National Park where you’ll experience the beauty of the tropical rainforest. This jungle walk will introduce you to a variety of jungle inhabitants including gibbons, thomas leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, flying squirrels, and majestic orangutans!
