We rate this tour as a 3/5. This tour features daily walks that are up to 16km in length. There is a mix of moderate and challenging trails. You may benefit from having some mountainous terrain experience as some of the walks have steep hill climbs and rocky terrain with difficult footing.

I’ve never been on a self-guided trip! How does it work?
Self-guided travelling is not difficult! For many, it is a preferred type of travel as you are in charge of your own time and pace. You are provided all the information on which direction you need to go daily. However, self-guided travelling requires good navigation skills and those who don’t feel confident in unknown places should consider booking guided tours.

Do I need insurance?
Yes, it is mandatory to have health and medical insurance to join this trip, and your insurance should cover hiking. Get your Travel Insurance.
How do I get to Vamos to start this tour?
To get to Crete, you can arrive at either Chania International Airport (CHQ) or Heraklion International Airport (HER). Once you arrive at either airport, there is public transportation available to Vamos, although it is not a direct route. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or pre-book airport transfers as a supplement.
Is the Crete Coast to Coast Tour guided?
No, this is a self-guided tour. You will be provided with a route guide and map in English for your tour.
Where does the Crete Coast to Coast Tour end?
Your tour ends in Loutro. You’ll need to take the 20-minute ferry to Chora Sfakion. Then you can choose to take public transportation, a taxi, or a pre-booked transfer to Chania or Heraklion.
