We rate this tour a 3/5. Daily walks range from 5-7 hours on varied terrain. Roads can sometimes be stony and walkers will at times traverse hilly or mountainous routes, but all routes are maintained. Those comfortable walking long distances several days in a row will get the most out of this tour.

How do I get to Agua Amarga to start this tour?
If arriving at Alicante Airport (ALC), you can take a bus from the airport to Murcia, which takes approximately 1 hour. From Murcia you can take a bus to Vera, which takes approximately 2 hours. From Vera, you can take a taxi to your accommodations in Agua Amarga, which takes approximately 40 minutes. If arriving at Málaga Airport (AGP), you can take a bus to Almería, which takes approximately 3.5 hours. From Almería you can take a taxi to your accommodations in Agua Amarga, which takes approximately 50 minutes. From Almería Airport (LEI), Granada Airport (GRX), and Murcia Airport (MJV), you can either take a combination of public transport or book a private transfer from any of these three airports as a supplement in advance. You can find distances from the airports to your accommodations below.
- San José-Almería Airport: 35km
- San José-Granada Airport: 200km
- San José-Murcia Airport: 180km
Alternatively, you can arrange your own private transfer from any of the above-mentioned airports to your accommodations in Agua Amarga.
Where does the Cabo de Gata Walking Tour end?
The tour ends in San José. To return to Alicante Airport (ALC), you’ll first take a taxi to Vera, which takes approximately 1 hour. From Vera you can take a bus to Murcia, which takes approximately 2 hours. From Murcia you can take a final bus to the airport, which takes approximately 1 hour. To return to Málaga Airport (AGP), you’ll first take a bus to Almería, which takes approximately 1 hour. From Almería you’ll take a bus to the airport, which takes approximately 3.5 hours. A private transfer can be booked in advance as a supplement to Almería Airport (LEI), Granada Airport (GRX), or Murcia Airport (MJV). Alternatively, you can arrange your own private transfer to any of the airports mentioned above.
