Beaujolais is one of the most well-known wines in the world but there are a lot of surprises hidden away in the picturesque vineyards.
This tour will take you through all the Beaujolais vineyards that stretch from Lyon to Macon. You will cycle through the countryside known as La Terre des Pierres Dorées, the land of the golden stones – which is absolutely breathtaking. It features intact medieval villages nestled amid rolling hills and imposing chateaus that hulk in the distance. The area has the reputation as France’s Tuscany.

This tour is based in hotels. Hotels on this trip are 2 and 3-star and offer modern conveniences that can make this trip more pleasant. Rooms may have fireplaces or access to amenities such as hot tubs, steam rooms, or private decks to lounge on.

How hard is the Beaujolais by Bike Tour?
We rate this tour as a 4 / 5. Due to hilly terrain where climbs cannot be avoided, this trip is not recommended for the beginners. It is advised to have previous multi-day biking experience.

I’ve never been on a self-guided trip! How does it work?
Self-guided travelling is not difficult! For many, it is a preferred type of travel, since you are in charge of your own time and pace. You are provided with all the information you’ll need to follow the route each day and often have access to phone support or other kinds of assistance. However, self-guided travelling requires good navigation skills and those who don’t feel confident in unknown places should consider booking guided tours.

Do I need insurance?
Yes, it is mandatory to have health and medical insurance to join this trip, and your insurance should cover biking. Get your travel insurance.
How do I get to Lyon to start this tour?
You can get to Lyon via flight or via train. The pickup either from airport, train station or your accommodation in downtown Lyon is already included.
Where does the Beaujolais by Bike Tour end?
The tour ends in Macon, from where you can depart by taking take the High-Speed Train at Macon-Loché TGV train station.
Can I rent a bike?
Yes, you can rent a bike during the booking process. Rental bikes Scott Sub Sport 30. You can also rent an e-bike (Scott Sub Eride 30).
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes. If you bring your own bike, it should be a bike suitable for the demands of the tour.
Do I need special vaccines to travel to France?
