Route Description for West Valley Loop Trail
The West Valley Loop Trail is a great hike for those with children or those simply seeking a relaxing nature walk. Meander along the Yosemite Valley floor and revel in the grandeur of the bounding cliffs and the famous landmarks, including El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls, and Half Dome. Note that much of the path is exposed, so wear proper sun protection! Additionally, the National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.
Your exciting adventure along West Valley Loop begins from the Bridalveil Trailhead. From here, hike northeast through the meadowlands before diverting right onto the Valley Loop Trail. Follow this path east along Southside Drive and the Merced River. After passing El Capitan Drive, you will turn left onto a connector trail and trek north over both Southside and Northside Drive. After crossing Northside Drive, veer left onto the Valley Loop Trail.
This path wanders along the base of El Capitan. Revel in the grandeur of the sheer cliff sides that are often decorated with intrepid adventurers tackling a tough climb. Travel around the Valley Loop Trail and you will eventually be delivered back to the trailhead.
