Route Description for Pohono Trail: Glacier Point to Dewey Point
The Pohono Trail: Glacier Point to Dewey Point is an awesome adventure that exhibits the grandeur and beauty of Yosemite Valley. Wander the route to Glacier Point, Sentinel Dome, Taft Point and The Fissures, and Dewey Point. Overwhelm yourself with vertigo-inducing sights of the picturesque valley and the famous granite domes, including El Capitan and Half Dome! Take note that the undulating terrain here has steep sections and demands stamina, so make sure you are properly prepared and equipped to tackle this trek. Note: the Glacier Point Road is subject to seasonal closure, thus the trail will be inaccessible. As there are many intersections and route changes along this trek, the trail GPS may prove useful. Embark on your adventure along the Pohono Trail: Glacier Point to Dewey Point from the Glacier Point Parking Lot. From here, hike northeast to Glacier Point, where you will be overwhelmed by the sights of Half Dome. Revel in the view, then retrace your footing back along the path to merge onto the Taft Point Trail. Wander this path up to Sentinel Point, which again reveals panoramic vistas of the area. After enjoying the views, hook south onto the Sentinel Dome Trail, before diverting west towards Taft Point and The Fissures for some epic views of El Capitan.
From here, head southwest over Bridal Veil Creek and on to Dewey Point, which marks your turn-around point. From here, retrace your steps all the way back to Taft Point and The Fissures. Continue trekking and at the next intersection, keep left and hike over Sentinel Creek back to the Sentinel Dome junction. At this point, you will head east and retrace your steps along the path back to the parking lot.
