The Mirror Lake via Shuttle Stop #17 is a wonderful adventure through Yosemite Valley that exhibits breathtaking scenery of the dramatic landscape. Wander through mixed pine forests to a seasonal lake that shimmers in the spring and dries into a lush meadowland in the late-summer. No matter the time of year you visit, this trek rewards hikers with wonderful views of Half Dome, North Dome, and Mount Watkins. Note: the National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for a pricing guide.
Departing from the shuttle stop, the Mirror Lake via Shuttle Stop #17 tracks the Valley Loop Trail through a mixed pine forest that reveals sights of the granite peaks through the tree breaks. Wander the path to Tenaya Creek, where you will be redirected east into Tenaya Canyon. Follow this path along the curves of the snow-melt creek and you will eventually reach Mirror Lake. In the spring, when the lake is full and calm, it will reflect the picturesque canyon walls and granite domes.
Cross over the top of Mirror Lake and reconnect with another branch of the Valley Loop Trail, trekking southwest along the Cairns Field. From here, you will hook onto the service road, which will deliver you back to the shuttle stop to mark the end of your adventure.
