Route Description for McGurk Meadow Trail
Immerse yourself in a quintessential Yosemite hike as you tackle the McGurk Meadow Trail. This wonderful excursion reveals awe-inspiring views of the granite peaks that line the horizon as you wander through the wildflower meadowlands. Note: this hike can be extended if you continue further to Dewey Point. Additionally, Yosemite National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for the pricing guide and additional information.
Setting out from the trailhead, your journey along the McGurk Meadow Trail begins with a short walk through the mixed pine woodlands. Soon after your departure from the trailhead, the path will open to a lush meadowland that features an abundance of vibrant wildflowers in the summer months. From here, enjoy sights of the Sierra Nevada peaks as you wander to the historic cabin. Explore the ruins of the rancher’s cabin and continue hiking back into the forest. Again, the path will guide you into a meadowland before reaching an intersection with Pohono Trail.
Here, you will have reached the turnaround point of your hike. If you still have some gas left in the tank, then head left for Dewey Point. If not, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
