Route Description for Inspiration Point Trail
The Inspiration Point Trail is an amazing hike that can be enjoyed by hikers of most skill levels and ages. Wander past the Wawona Tunnel and up through new growth pines to the scenic overlook. This path is a popular one, so don’t be surprised if you end up sharing the trail! If you are seeking a more secluded adventure, then consider an early morning excursion. When trekking in the winter months, be sure to strap on a pair of microspikes! Note: Yosemite National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for the pricing guide.
Setting out from the Pohono Trailhead, you will gradually climb up a single-track route that will demand the navigation of a few switchbacks. As you ascend the path, be sure to look east for an amazing sight of Bridal Veil Falls. Not long after your departure from the trailhead you will reach an intersection with Old Wawona Road. Continue along the trail, following the middle route to wander through a section of mixed pines, before eventually arriving at Inspiration Point.
Revel in the vistas of the steep-walled canyon and the immense granite peaks that decorate the rims above. Admire views of the dramatic landscape and, when you are ready, retrace your footing back down the path to the trailhead.
