Route Description for Harden Lake Trail
The Harden Lake Hike is an awesome adventure that presents the perfect excuse to get the whole family out into nature. The forested route to the lake gradually descends, making the initial portion of the trek a walk in the park and the hike out a bit more taxing. Pack plenty of water and snacks in case you want to spend some time along the shores of the postcard-worthy lake. Note: the National Park charges an entrance fee; check out the NPS website for an up-to-date pricing guide.
Embark on the Harden Lake Hike from the trailhead at the end of White Wolf Road. From here, follow the only path, which is signposted for Harden Lake. Setting out from the trailhead, the route will gradually descend into a mixed pine forest near the gurgling waters of the Middle Tuolumne River. Mind your footing here, as you will be wandering along a path with small granite rocks that protrude from the terrain. Soon the path will diverge away from the river and guide you northwest to Harden Lake.
Once at the lake, be sure to rejuvenate your tired feet in the chilly waters. If you have a fishing rod and a valid permit, try your hand at some fishing! When you are ready to return to the trailhead, simply retrace your steps along the path.
