The Eagle Peak Hike is an epic expedition in Yosemite National Park that exhibits the beauty and grandeur of Yosemite Valley, with the granite peaks and domes that so famously adorn the landscape. Let the inspiring views of Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Half Dome, and more capture your attention. This trek is a must if you aren’t afraid of heights and technical terrain.

Route Description for Eagle Peak Hike

Reserved for intrepid spirits and experienced adventurers, the Eagle Peak Hike is a great addition to your Yosemite hiking itinerary. This wonderful excursion reveals some of the most picturesque panoramas of Yosemite Valley and its granite outcrops. Note: this trek travels up vertiginous terrain and high elevations, so make sure you are wearing suitable footwear and prepare for windy conditions at the summit of the peak. Pack plenty of water and snacks to stay fueled along this adventure! Additionally, Yosemite National Park charges an entrance fee, so be sure to check out the NPS website for a pricing guide and additional information.

Embark on your adventure along the Eagle Peak Trail from the Upper Yosemite Falls Trailhead. From here, track the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail up a set of seemingly never-ending switchbacks, before reaching Columbia Rock. Revel in the expansive views from here and continue hiking up the cliffside. Soon, you will be rewarded with dumbfounding vistas of the Yosemite Falls as they cascade over 732 m into the valley below. Here, you will ascend the vertiginous terrain to the top of the falls, where you will confront a junction. Veer left here, and you will soon reach another intersection.

At this point, you will take another left turn and hike south all the way to the summit of Eagle Peak. Let the dramatic views of the Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, and Half Dome humble you, as you revel in vertigo-inducing panoramas. When you are set to continue your adventure, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
