Route Description for Muker and Swaledale Walk
Lovely views along the River Swale and the surrounding Swaledale Valley await on the Muker and Swaledale Walk in the Yorkshire Dales. While there is a very small amount of uphill walking on this route, it is suitable for nearly all ages and skill levels, making this a perfect walk for a leisurely afternoon outdoors.
From the trailhead, you will initially head north along the River Swale and take in views of Kisdon on your left and Black Hill on your right before turning to the east to cross over the river. From here, you will climb slightly uphill to gain an elevated view overlooking Swaledale, as you continue east along the hillside that borders the edge of the moor.
After reaching the village of Gunnerside - complete with a pub and tearoom for mid-walk refreshments - you will turn back to the west and make your way along the winding banks of the River Swale as it cuts across the valley floor. Take some time to appreciate the views of surrounding hills, as you make your way back to the trailhead where you began your adventure.
