Route Description for Leyburn and Wensley Walk
The walk through Leyburn and Wensley is a popular activity in the Yorkshire Dales area, as it provides some lovely views across the rolling hills of the countryside and passes through charming villages and towns, where you can explore the shops or stop into a cafe for refreshments.
While the route isn’t overly long, it does feature some gradual climbs throughout that will give your legs a good workout. The effort will definitely be rewarded, as the views from atop Leyburn Shawl will sprawl out in every direction and give you a great sightline over Wensleydale.
After walking along this elevated position, the trail will lead you downhill for the return leg of the journey across open fields that will likely be populated with roaming sheep and cattle. After passing through the charming village of Wensley, you will make the return to Leyburn, where you can explore the shops of this quaint market town.
Getting to the Leyburn and Wensley Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Leyburn and Wensley Walk from Bedale, drive north along N End for 0.3mi and take the first exit at the roundabout onto A684. Follow this for 10.3mi and turn right to enter the car park.Route Information
