Route Description for Great Knoutberry Hill Walk
Featuring breathtaking views across the surrounding hills, moors, and valleys; the Great Knoutberry Walk is an amazing route that will allow you to appreciate the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Setting out from the trailhead at The Sportsmans Inn, you will head southeast towards the village of Stone House, before beginning a steep climb uphill to the east.
Here, you will pass under the Arten Gill Viaduct and traverse the rugged terrain of the moor to reach the viewpoint atop Great Knoutberry Hill. After taking in the views, you will pass by Widdale Great Tarn and descend the hillside to the northwest along Coal Road. Reaching the valley floor in the village of Cowgill, you will head to the southeast and follow the River Dee on the return to the trailhead.

To get to the trailhead for the Great Knoutberry Hill Walk from Hawes, head west for 6.5mi along Turfy Hill/B6255 and make a right onto Newby Head Road. Follow this for 2.8mi to arrive at the trailhead.Route Information
