Route Description for Observation Point
The Observation Point Hiking Trail is a short and sweet route with so much to see along the way. This trail is in a very popular area of Yellowstone National Park. We recommend heading out on this route early in the morning to beat the crowds. This area, however, is popular for a reason. With the highest concentration of geothermal features in the world and the most iconic geyser in the Park, this area is a tourist hotspot and the Observation Point Trail is a fantastic way to see it.
Beginning at the Old Faithful Inn, follow the boardwalk around Old Faithful and cross over the Firehole River. On the far side of the river, take the path on your right to hike up the switchbacks to Observation Point.
Enjoy the incredible views at Observation Point and be sure to snap a few photos before heading back the way you came. If you are looking to explore the area further, check out the Upper Geyser Basin Trail.
