Route Description for Observation Peak via the Cascade Creek Trail
Observation Peak via Cascade Creek is a stunning, scenic route in Yellowstone. This trail features a steep and consistent climb to the top of Observation Peak. Proper hiking footwear and lots of water are essential for this route. We strongly recommend bringing along a set of hiking poles to aid your ascent and save your knees some strain on the way back down. You will also want to pack the camera; the views from the top of Observation Peak are absolutely stunning.
Beginning at the Cascade Creek Trailhead, follow the path north for 2.7 km to a divide. Take the path on your left and head east to Cascade Lake. At Cascade Lake, take the trail that splits off to your right to hike up to the top of Observation Peak.
Take a well-deserved rest at the top of Observation Peak and soak in the incredible views of the valley below. Then, when you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the Cascade Creek Trailhead, where you began.
