The Artist’s Point, Lily Pad Lake, and Clear Lake Loop is a fun hike for the whole family. Although this hike is short, it does have some steep sections, so be sure to wear proper hiking footwear and be prepared for a bit of a climb. Bring lots of water and lots of snacks for everyone in your hiking party to make your adventure the best it can be. On this circuit, the drama of Artist’s point is nicely contrasted with the peace and tranquility of Lily Pad Lake and Clear Lake. These lakes are a perfect place to enjoy a family picnic, especially in the summertime, when this area is aburst with fragrant wildflowers.
Beginning at the Artist’s Point Trailhead, follow the path east along the trail overlooking the Yellowstone River. Approximately 0.6 miles in, take the path on your right to head south to Lily Lake. Stick to the path on your right to circle around Clear Lake, then back to the Artist’s Point Trailhead, where you began.
