Hiking the Overlord, Lakeside, Decker Loop is a fun experience within the Blackcomb Peak Ski Area that will take hikers along a circuit that visits the calm waters of Blackcomb Lake before travelling along the slopes of Blackcomb Peak and Decker Mountain. The trail itself isn’t overly difficult, making it an ideal way for hikers of most skill levels to experience the beauty of the Whistler area. From the various viewpoints along the trail, you will have the opportunity to gaze out at the countless mountains that dot the landscape throughout Garibaldi Provincial Park.

Route Description for Overlord, Lakeside, Decker Loop

The Overlord, Lakeside, Decker Loop is a scenic hiking route in the Blackcomb Peak Ski Area that travels south to the tranquil shores of Blackcomb Lake before skirting around the edge of Blackcomb Peak towards Decker Mountain. From the slopes of the mountain, you will have an amazing sightline over the Fitzsimmons Range and into Garibaldi Provincial Park from several scenic lookouts.

This trail sets out from the Rendezvous Lodge in the Blackcomb Peak Ski Area, so hikers will need to either trek up the Little Burn, Big Burn, Heart Burn trail or purchase a gondola ticket to take the less physically demanding route up to the trailhead. Once you are out on the trail, the terrain is easy to navigate and gradually climbs up and down along the slopes of the mountain peaks, as you make your way around the loop. This moderate hiking route is a great way to explore the mountains around Whistler if you aren’t a big fan of winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding.

Getting to the Overlord, Lakeside, Decker Loop Trailhead

To get to the parking area for the Overlord, Lakeside, Decker Loop from the Sea to Sky Highway in Whistler, turn onto Lorimer Road and continue on it for 0.7mi. Make a right turn onto Blackcomb Way and follow it for 1804ft, where you will find a small parking area on the left. Hikers will then need to either hike up to the trailhead at Rendezvous Lodge or take the gondola up.
