Prusik Pass can be reached relatively easily from Perfection Lake on a 0.8mi trail that sees very light traffic. The route begins with a more even climb and then gains most of its elevation in the second half of the ascent. This route is not dog-friendly.

Route Description for Prusik Pass from Perfection Lake

A quick 1.3 km hike takes you to Prusik Pass from Perfection Lake and back, offering a fun side trip for hikers and backpackers already at the lake. This hike is moderate, and although it’s short, the second half is fairly steep.

Begin from the northern tip of the lake. Snow Lake Trail, Colchuck Lake Trail, and Prusik Pass Trail all meet here. Take Prusik Pass Trail away from the lake, crossing two streams. The first half of the hike through the basin is easier, and then the second half climbs more aggressively. It’s a short trip up to the pass, where you can admire the lakes below before heading back down.
