Route Description for Mission Peak Loop

The Mission Peak Loop is a great pick if you like to do a bit of scrambling and a bit of routefinding. Part of the loop is easy to follow and quite moderate and part is a bit more adventurous. Have your GPs downloaded and have fun!

Begin from the end of the road. We describe this trail clockwise, although you could do it either way. Head southwest past Hampton Lodge and follow the road along the creek and as it switchbacks. Pass the B24 bomber wing and the tarn and then traverse the ridge to Mission Peak. Drop down the other side of the peak and switchback past the tarn. Make your way mostly straight down the trail past Clara Lake. This is where the route is faint, but as long as you descend in a mostly straight line, you’ll make it back to the trailhead.
