Route Description for Table Mountain and Discovery Cabin Trail
Although long, the Table Mountain and Discovery Cabin Trail is a spectacular hiking route that will give you a bird’s eye view overlooking the rugged expanse and natural beauty of Wells Gray Provincial Park. The trail sets out from the end of the road and heads through the forest to the northeast along a route that runs parallel to a creek and eventually meets up with Phillip Lake. Shortly before reaching the lake, you will turn to the south and cross over the creek to begin an uphill climb to the top of the ridge. Once you are at the top, you will need to traverse the rugged terrain to arrive at the summit of Table Mountain, where you will have spectacular views over the surrounding area.
Head south to descend the ridge and make your way towards the foot of Discovery Hill, where you will find a small cabin. After exploring the area, head back along the same trail and make your way up Table Mountain, following the path to the right for a different viewpoint from the summit that looks north. After meeting back up with the main trail, follow it back down the ridgeline and through the forest to return to the trailhead.
