Route Description for Kamas Lake via the Lofty Lake Trail
The hike to Kamas Lake via the Lofty Lake Trail is a fantastic route east of Park City, Utah. This trail is short but gets seriously steep about a mile in. Be sure to arrive with proper hiking footwear and lots of water. We recommend bringing along a set of hiking poles to aid in your ascent and save your knees some strain on the way back down. We also recommend bringing along a camera; the hike to Kamas Lake via the Lofty Lake Trail is absolutely gorgeous.
To hike to Kamas Lake, begin at the Pass Lake Trailhead on the north side of Highway 150. From the trailhead, follow the Main Fork Weber River Trail west, then take your first right to hop on the Lofty Lake Trail. Follow the Lofty Lake Trail as it curves northwest past Reid’s Meadow to a divide. At the divide, take the path on your right to climb the last section of trail up to Kamas Lake.
Take a rest on the shore of Kamas Lake to catch your breath and enjoy the incredible views of the alpine wilderness. When you are ready to head home, simply turn around and retrace your steps back to the trailhead. If you are looking for more to explore, you can extend this hike along the Lofty Lake Loop.
Getting to the Kamas Lake via the Lofty Lake Trail Trailhead
From Kamas, UT, head east out of town on highway 150. Continue on highway 150 for 32.0mi then turn left at the Pass Lake Trailhead just past the Mirror Lake Campground, the hike to Kamas Lake via the Lofty Lake Trail begins here.Route Information
