Route Description for Fish Lake via Spirit Lake
The Fish Lake via Spirit Lake Trail is a gorgeous route in the high Uinta Wilderness. This trail can get very buggy, especially in the early summer. If you are heading out in June or July, be sure to wear bug spray and/or long layers to combat the mosquitoes. The mosquitos get especially bad around dusk, so we recommend heading out on this trail early in the morning to avoid the bugs. Despite the bugs, this trail is absolutely gorgeous. The Fish Lake via Spirit Lake Trail will guide you along a series of pristine alpine lakes, each seemingly more beautiful than the last.
From the Spirit Lake Campground, follow the Tamarack Lake Trail west. Stay right at the first and second divide in the trail to follow the north shore of Tamarack Lake. Just past Tamarack Lake, the trail will split again, stay left at this divide and continue west to a fork in the path. At the fork, take the path on your left to head south along the last bit of trail to Fish Lake.
Enjoy a rest on the shores of Fish Lake and go for an invigorating swim before retracing your steps back to the Spirit Lake Campground where you began.
