Route Description for Paine Grande to Camp Grey Hike
If you are looking to spend a few days camping outdoors in the wild and rugged landscape of Torres del Paine National Park, the Paine Grande to Camp Grey Hike is the perfect route to do so. Make sure to come prepared with proper hiking footwear and outdoor gear, as there is a fair amount of rough terrain along the trail.
Setting out from the Paine Grande Camp, you will follow the path to the left of the park warden’s residence as it leads northwest through a valley. After climbing uphill, you will arrive at the edge of Laguna Los Patos for some scenic views.
After continuing through a burned out stretch of forest, you will pass by several scenic viewpoints overlooking the vast expanse of Grey Lake and the Grey Glacier. Keeping on to the northwest, the trail will descend into the Río Olguin Gorge, before eventually arriving at Camp Grey.
Once you have sorted out your campsite or hut rental, continue making your way along the trail for another 20 minutes in order to reach the Mirador Grey, where you will enjoy a stunning front row view of the Grey Glacier.
