Route Description for Glencoe Lochan Circular Walk
Gather the entire family and head to the serene, stunning Glencoe Lochan Circular Walk in the Highlands for a short adventure around a lochan! The shores lined with trees hemmed with mountains in the background create a peaceful, wild image that’s definitely worth exploring.
Thankfully, this walk follows waymarked paths, making it fun to choose your own adventure, or you can follow our guide if you prefer sticking to a set track. Our route starts from the Glencoe Lochan Car Park!
From here, check out the three signs and take the Mountain Trail, which starts steep. Of course, you could also skip this part and go directly to the lochan. At the top of the Mountain Trail, a picnic table and a view await. After descending, take a right to follow the path hugging the lochan’s soothing shoreline. Look for Beinn a Bheithir demanding attention in the backdrop. You’ll also catch a reflection of the Pap of Glencoe. Talk about rewarding sights!
Near the end of this circuit, you’ll go right to follow a yellow waymarked path to go through Sequoias and Douglas Firs. Then, at the more extensive track, go right and then take an immediate left at the wooden handrail to pass another lochan and go back to the Glencoe Lochan Car Park.
