Route Description for Heron Trail
Hiking the Heron Trail is a fantastic option for an outdoor excursion if you are short on time and want to experience an amazing rainforest setting right in the heart of Powell River. The trail sets out from the parking area and enters into the dense cover of the forest, passing by the Powell River Recreation Complex on your right. As you make your way to the southwest, you will pass by an amazing variety of plant life, including large cedar trees, various species of wild mushroom, and an abundance of ferns scattered along the forest floor. Eventually, you will reach the southwestern tip of the trail near the Willingdon Beach Campground, where you will turn south and skirt alongside a mini golf course. Here, the trail will meet up with Harvie Avenue and follow it for a brief distance before re-entering the forest on the return part of the loop to the trailhead where you began.
