Route Description for Trail of the Gargoyles Hike
The Trail of the Gargoyles Hike is a wonderful excursion that the whole family can enjoy. Explore the unique granite spires and hoodoos that adorn the landscape marvel at the expansive views of the High Sierra. Note: there are several steep drop-offs, so be sure to keep children and dogs close! Additionally, though this exposed route offers incredible views, it warrants extremely warm conditions, so wear SPF and a sunhat in the summer months!
Embark on your adventure from the trailhead off Forest Route 4N12. From here, the Trail of the Gargoyles Hike follows the interpretive trail southwest. Wander along this route, minding your footing on the rocky terrain. Admire the scenes of the unique geological features and the sights of the mountainous landscape.
The trail’s end boasts an incredible overlook of the wilderness for you to indulge in before beginning your return. Then, when you are ready, head back the way you came back to the trailhead.
