Route Description for Bull Run Lake Trail
The Bull Run Lake Trail is an excellent choice for your next adventure. Explore the granite oasis and revel in the beauty of the encompassing Sierra Nevada summits. As this route travels through exposed terrain, it is important to check the forecast to mitigate your chances of getting caught in an afternoon storm. Additionally, the terrain is rocky and uneven, so a pair of supportive footwear will make a huge difference! Note: a day-use permit is required and can be found at the trailhead.
Setting out from the Stanislaus Meadow Trailhead, follow the Pack Trail southeast. Shortly after departing from the trailhead, you will reach an intersection; keep right to meander through the Stanislaus Meadow. From here, you will be granted expansive vistas of the surrounding rolling hills. Continue hiking the Pack Trail along the North Fork Stanislaus River and admire the sight of Bull Run Peak towering above.
At the next junction, keep right again, and you will begin your final push up to Bull Run Lake. Enjoy the scene of the granite terrain, and you will soon summit the ridge to the alpine lake. Revel in the post-card perfect scene of the water reflecting the granite cliffs of Bull Run Peak. After exploring the mountain basin, retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
