Route Description for Shannon Basin Loop
The Shannon Basin Loop is a lightly-trafficked hiking route near Shannon Falls Provincial Park that sets out from the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola and travels around a 9.5 km forested loop. Due to the trailhead’s location at the top of the gondola, hikers will need to either buy a ticket ($55 on weekdays, $60 on weekends) or make the long hike up from the Stawamus Chief Campground. Either way, hikers that set out along this route will be greeted with well-maintained trails, moderate changes in elevation, and plenty of shade from the tree cover. Along the route, there are several viewpoints that look out over the surrounding area and hikers will be able to see the peaks of nearby mountains poking out over the trees. The Shannon Basin Loop is a great trail for those who want a moderately challenging hike in the Squamish area.
