Route Description for Moel Eilio Local’s Walk
From the car park, walk along the road east for a short way before arriving at a gate in the wall on your right-hand side. Turn right and pass through this gate, coming out onto a footpath that winds through open moorland. A fence with a stile marks the start of a steeper section, with a second fence offering a largely unnecessary stile (since there’s an easy gap to pass through).
Then, it’s just a matter of staying along the path until you reach the summit! A large shelter provides space to break from the weather—unless conditions are good, in which case the views over to Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris are lovely. When you’re ready to descend, follow the same path back down the way you came. Turn left after passing through the gate and stroll back to your car.
Getting to the Moel Eilio Local’s Walk Trailhead
This Moel Eilio walk starts from a car park above the village of Waunfawr. On a map, you’ll see an inverted triangle of main roads near the center of the village—the access road extends eastward from here. Please note that the access road is not very well maintained, and not all vehicles may be suitable for it—drive with caution!Route Information
