Route Description for Eagle View Trail
The Eagle View Trail is sure to impress. Offering unrivaled views of the Great Western Divide and encompassing Sierra Nevada Mountains, there are not many other overlooks that top this one. Additionally, this route makes for a great alternative to the Moro Rock Trail as it does not demand a vertigo-inducing climb up! Note the bugs in this area are vicious when there is no wind—so pack bug spray. Don’t forget entrance to the park costs $35USD per vehicle or $20USD per person for pedestrians or cyclists.
Once your camera is charged you are set to begin your hike along the Eagle View Trail. Setting out from the trailhead, follow the High Sierra Trail southeastward to a lovely overlook of Crescent Meadow. Here you will be confronted with an intersection and continue hiking the High Sierra Trail. This route will guide you through the mixed-conifer forest before opening to Eagle View.
The Eagle View Lookout is found atop an impressive granite outcrop. From here, revel in the beauty of the snow-dusted mountains that command the skyline and the encompassing forested foothills. When you are through admiring the amazing alpine scenery, retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
