Route Description for Big Trees Trail
Those seeking a short, easy-going outdoor adventure will enjoy the Big Trees Trail. Explore the area’s native flora and fauna whilst traveling amid communities of new and old sequoias and around Round Meadow in the Giant Forest Grove. Note this beautiful forest sees plenty of traffic, so we encourage you to explore in the early morning or late evening for a more tranquil experience. Note entrance to the park costs $35USD per vehicle or $20USD per person for pedestrians or cyclists.
Embark on your adventure along the Big Trees Hike from the Giant Forest Museum. Setting out from here, follow the Alta Trail east to an intersection. Here, turn left and track the Big Trees Trail over the Generals Highway and Little Deer Creek. At the following junction, keep left along the Big Tress Trail, which will lead you along the western edge of Round Meadow. Revel in the scene of the lush meadow as you meander through giant sequoias. Eventually, you will intersect again with Little Deer Creek before being redirected south through young sequoias.
Once you complete the loop, take the middle trail over Little Deer Creek before trekking parallel to the Generals Highway. Soon you will reach the parking area across the road from the Giant Forest Museum. Either end your adventure here or cross over the highway and explore the museum.
