The Bear Hill and Moro Rock Loop Trail would make an excellent addition to your adventure itinerary. Wander amid towering sequoias, green meadows, and vibrant wildflowers to the famous Moro Rock, which boasts unparalleled views of the Great Western Divide. Note areas of this path see high traffic, so come prepared to share the trail and explore in the early morning for a more secluded experience. The Park charges an entrance fee of $35USD per vehicle or $20USD per person for pedestrians or cyclists.
Embark on your journey along the Bear Hill and Moro Rock Loop from the Giant Forest Museum. Setting out from here, you will be guided along the Generals Highway before merging onto the Rim Rock Trail. At the following intersection, keep right, then merge onto the Bear Hills Trail. Soon after this intersection, you will turn right onto the Soldiers Hill Trail—venture this route all the way to Moro Rock. Hook onto the Moro Rock Trail and hike up the 300-odd steps to the epic overlook of the Great Western Divide.
After enjoying the views, head back down the staircase and keep left onto the Moro Rock Trail. Cross over the Crescent Meadow Road and reconnect with the Bear Hill Trail. Trek this route to Bear Hill, then head down the connector route to Alta Trail, which will deliver you back to the museum.
