Route Description for Hog Wash and Hog Heaven Loop

For a shorter trail that makes you feel immersed in Sedona’s iconic scenery, the Hog Wash and Hog Heaven Loop is an awesome pick. This hike takes you right through the region’s iconic red rock formations and to the edge of a dramatic sinkhole. The views are great and the route is customizable with plentiful connecting trails.

We recommend taking a GPS track on this hike if you’re unfamiliar with the area since there are lots of junctions and side trails.

From the trailhead, hike south on Broken Arrow Trail to where the loop splits. We like to hike this route counterclockwise for the best experience, so stay right to hike around the base of the rock formation in front of you. You’ll hike past the cemetery and then do a quick bit of climbing through a couple of switchbacks towards West Twin Butte.

Take a left to hike right underneath the butte, continuing underneath East Twin Butte. Turn left at the end of East Twin Butte to hike up to Devil’s Dining Room. After peering into its depths, continue north to the trailhead.
