Route Description for Hangover, Casner Canyon, and Huckaby Loop
The loop hike that combines Hangover, Casner Canyon, and Huckaby Trails is an awesome adventure with plenty of Sedona’s classic red sandstone scenery to see. This hike delivers when it comes to the views, but it’s a bit longer and has a bit more elevation gain involved than many other hikes in the area. Make sure you’re well prepared for the desert sun with plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat if you’re hiking between May and October.
The only complaint from users is that a section of this trail closely follows a route used by pink Jeep tours and ATVs, so it can be a bit noisy. Don’t let this stop you from visiting, though! Also, watch for mountain biker traffic and share the trail. If you’re worried about getting off-track, we recommend bringing a downloaded GPS track.
Starting from the trailhead, you’ll be on Munds Wagon Trail, which closely follows Schnebly Hill Road for a stretch. Where the loop splits, go sharply left around The Teapot and Pointed Dome. You’ll pass by Merry Go Round and then climb up the mesa wall for a little viewpoint moment.
Heading back down from the mesa, you’ll follow the highway for a long stretch to return to the trailhead.
