Route Description for Fourmile Falls Hike
If you are after a relatively easy-going adventure in the San Juan Mountains that features laidback terrain, stunning mountain views, and the chance to experience several cascading waterfalls, then the Fourmile Falls Hike is the perfect option for you to get out and explore Colorado.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast and into the dense woodland landscape, following the path until you meet up with the rushing waters of Fourmile Creek. From here, you will follow along the west bank of the creek and take in the views of the surrounding mountains as they become available through the breaks in the tree cover.
Eventually, you will pass through a series of beautifully scenic meadows, before arriving at the viewpoint for Fourmile Falls. Take some time here to revel in the breathtaking views of the cascading water, which is likely to be frozen over if you visit during later parts of the year. After taking in the views, simply head back along the same trail to return to the trailhead.
