Those seeking an adventure that showcases San Francisco’s famous landmarks and natural beauty should explore the Presidio and Baker Beach Loop Trail. Wander through wilderness areas and golf courses, through neighborhoods and beaches to overlooks, all in one circuit trail. Boasting a diversity of scenery, this stimulating trek is sure to impress. Note many of the intersections and route changes are poorly signposted, so we encourage the use of the trail GPS.
Embark on your journey along the Presidio and Baker Beach Loop from the West Pacific Avenue Trailhead. Setting out from here, you will be guided westwardly to Mountain Lake and over Veterans Blvd. Using the trail GPS, you will be led around the Presidio Landmark and onto the Lobos Creek Valley Path. Crossing over Lincoln Blvd, hikers will turn right onto the Coastal Trail, which traces Baker Beach and the shoreline cliffs. Follow this route past the batteries to the Golden Gate Overlook and revel in the views of the famous bridge.
Diverting inland, the trail will lead you through the neighborhood and back into Presidio Park. Meander through the greenspace, past the National Cemetery Overlook, and back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
