Route Description for Bay to Breakers Route
Adventure the Bay to Breakers Route on your own terms. Explore San Francisco’s city center as you wander through the urban oasis chock full of wonderment and charm. Note that most of this path travels through the urban center; only the tail end wanders through Golden Gate Park, so your hike will likely be clouded by traffic noise. As this trail is one-way, make sure you leave a vehicle or arrange for pickup at the western edge of Golden Gate Park. The trail GPS may prove useful for this adventure.
Setting out from the intersection of Howard and Main Street, this route travels southwest along Howard Street, turning right onto 9th Street. This road intersects with the famous Market Street, offering incredible views in either direction of the road bisected with trams. Merging onto Hayes Street, you will pass Alamo Square before turning left onto Divisadero Street and right onto Fell Street.
Merge onto John F Kennedy Drive, wandering through Golden Gate Park. Eventually, you will turn left onto Bernice Rodgers Way and right on Martin Luther King Junior Drive to the Great Highway, marking the Bay to Breakers Route’s end.
