Route Description for Sugarlump Bear Peak Trail
If you enjoy beautifully scenic mountain views, but aren’t too keen on completing an overly difficult hike to get them, the Sugarlump Bear Peak Trail is an excellent route in the San Bernardino National Forest to try out. Featuring easy to navigate terrain along a road, this is a great bang for your buck adventure near Big Bear Lake.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southwest along the forest service road as it begins climbing uphill through the tree cover. Here, the route will eventually bend to the southeast and continue uphill to gain elevation above the Bear Mountain Ski Resort.
Take some time here to enjoy the beautiful mountain and woodland views, as you traverse the road in a southeast direction to reach the summit of Sugarlump. Here, you can breathe in the fresh mountain air and gaze out across the San Bernardino Mountains, before heading back down along the same route to return to the trailhead.
