Route Description for The Great Western Trail to Lookout Peak
The Great Western Trail to The Lookout Peak Trail is a fantastic point-to-point hike in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This trail is rugged and not often maintained. Folks who wish to hike this trail should be comfortable and experienced with route-finding. If you are up for an adventurous day, this trail is gorgeous. With little traffic, the Great Western Trail to The Lookout Peak Trail is a great place to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Utah Wilderness.
From the trailhead at Big Mountain Pass, follow the Great Western Trail northwest. Stay left at all the divides to make your way to the Lookout Peak Trail. Continue southeast along the Lookout Peak Trail to end your hike at the Affleck Campground.
At the Affleck Campground, catch a shuttle home or set up your tent for a beautiful night under the Utah stars.
