Route Description for Pioneer Fork Trail
The Pioneer Fork Trail is a lovely out-and-back hike east of Salt Lake City. There is not much shade on this route, so be sure to wear sunscreen and a sunhat on your hike. Although this trail is short, it is consistently steep; combined with sun exposure, it can make for hot hiking. Bring more water than you think you’ll need along this route and/or save it for a cooler day. The Pioneer Fork Trail has lovely views of Emigration Canyon and is a beautiful place to stretch your legs and enjoy the beauty of nature not far from home.
From the trailhead on Pioneer Fork Road, follow the path west then north. When you see the “Private Property” signs, turn back and follow your footsteps back to the trailhead where you began.
If you are looking for more to explore in the area, check out the Mount Wire Trail nearby.
