Route Description for Killyon Canyon to Lookout Peak
The hike along Killyon Canyon to Lookout Peak is a gorgeous route in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This trail can get icy and slushy in the early spring, winter, and late fall; if you are hiking at that time of year we recommend wearing a pair of traction devices such as microspikes for extra grip. This trail is quite long, and the final section has no shade; be sure to bring more water than you think you’ll need and lots of snacks to fuel your hike. You will also want to bring along a camera; the views along this trail and from the top of Lookout Peak are amazing.
From the trailhead at the end of Killyon Canyon Road, follow the path northeast to a divide. Stay right at the divide and follow the trail to an intersection; take the path on the left to head north to another divide. Stay left at this split to hike the last section of trail to the top of Lookout Peak.
Take a well-deserved rest at the top and enjoy the incredible views of the Utah landscape below before turning around and following the same route back to the trailhead.
