Route Description for City Creek to Valley View Ridge Trail
The City Creek to Valley View Ridge Trail is a fantastic hike in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is a multi-use trail that is very popular with mountain bikers. When hiking, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open and allow bikes to pass you by. There is very little shade along this route so be sure to lather on the sunscreen, wear a good sunhat, and bring more water than you think you’ll need on this hike, especially if you are hiking at the peak of summer. The views along the City Creek to Valley View Ridge Trail are gorgeous. We recommend heading out on this trail in the early evening to catch the sunset over the Salt Lake Valley.
From the trailhead, follow the 19th avenue (lower) trail on the east bank of City Creek for 1.5 km, then use the Meadow Trail to connect with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail: Valleyview section. Follow the Bonneville Shoreline Trail for about 1.6 km before cutting north to a viewpoint.
Take a rest at the viewpoint, then turn around and follow your footsteps back to the trailhead where you began.
