Route Description for Bonneville Shoreline Trail: Olympus Cove to Hughes Canyon
The Bonneville Shoreline Trail from Olympus Cove to Hughes Canyon is a gorgeous hike on the edge of Holladay, Utah. This trail gets little shade and can really heat up in the afternoon sun, so if you are planning to hike in the summer be sure to layer on the sunscreen, wear a good sunhat, and bring lots of water. You will also want to bring along the camera as the views from this trail are gorgeous! For an especially beautiful view, try this hike in the fall when the Salt Lake Valley is aglow with the orange and gold of autumn leaves.
From the Thousand Oaks Trailhead, follow the Z trail east to a divide, then take a right and head along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail going south. Approximately 3.2 km in, you will see a trail join in from the right. Keep straight ahead and make a left at the following divide. One more trail will join in from the right before you cross your way over Tollcats canyon. Continue southeast to Hughes Canyon and take a right onto the Hughes Canyon trail to hike the last section to the trail’s end at Berghalde Lane.
