The Bonneville Shoreline Trail from Fernwood to East Mountain is a lovely hike on the eastern edge of Salt Lake City, Utah. This hike follows a popular route used by day-hikers, trail runners, dog-walkers, and mountain bikers. When walking this route, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open and allow faster folks to pass you by. This section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail is relatively easy and is appropriate for hikers of all ages and abilities. A walk along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail from Fernwood to East Mountain is a perfect way to spend an afternoon enjoying nature with the whole family.
To hike this section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, begin at the Fernwood Recreation Site on Fernwood Drive. Follow the Bonneville Shoreline Trail as it tracks south. Just past Holmes Creek, take a slight right onto East Mountain Wilderness Park (EMWP) Road. Follow EMWP road to the trail’s end at E 650 N.
This trail can be combined with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail: Layton Ridge to Fernwood Rec Section for a longer walk.
