Route Description for Lulu City Hike
The Lulu City hikes will guide adventures to the remaining cabins and cemetery of the transient mining town in the Coyote valley. The scenic trail runs parallel to the Colorado River, through meadows, and sparse aspen coverage. Perfect for those seeking a relatively level trail, the Lulu City Hike still delivers awe-inspiring mountain views. Note there are often elk and deer spotted grazing in the plains, thus this is a great trail to spot wildlife. Located in the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), visitors are required to purchase a park pass.
From the trailhead, the Lulu City Hike tracks north along the Colorado River Trail. Hike along the meadowed path and enjoy the mountainous landscape that encompasses you. As you travel along the path, you will notice a few merging trails, ignore those routes, and continue along the Colorado River Trail. Navigate the intersecting streams and you trek along the path, and you will eventually encounter a junction. Stay left here and you will be diverted to the Lulu City Cemetery and historic site.
Explore the remains of the log cabins and travel back into time as you imagine the transient miners bunking here. When you are done exploring, retrace your steps back along the path to the trailhead.
