Route Description for Last Chance California Coastal Trail

The Last Chance California offers mesmerizing scenery of the Pacific from atop the coastal cliff. Boasting awe-inspiring views, this route demands concentration and careful footing. As there are several steep drop-offs we encourage you to maintain on the marked path at all times. Additionally, the coastal trail sees extreme weather conditions—check the forecasts and dress accordingly! Lastly, and most importantly, do not forget to charge your camera; the scenery is picture-perfect.

Setting out from the trailhead, the Last Chance California Hike follows the California Coastal Trail south. From the trailhead, the path will begin to gradually descend into the woodlands, weaving you between exposed terrain and beneath the tree canopy! As you hike, the path will offer you several overlooks of the ocean and the rugged coastline, which are undoubtedly Instagram-worthy. Snap a picture, then continue along the route, which will eventually divert you inland, and over Nickel Creek.

You will hop off the Coastal Trail and walk to an epic overlook of the Pacific from here. Revel in the beauty and the relaxing sounds of the crashing waves below. Retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead when you are ready.
