Route Description for Jedediah Smith Campground Trail
Hiking this path makes for an incredible experience. Explore the coastal rainforest often cloaked in fog and revel in the beauty of the sunbeams piercing through the canopy. Use this easy-going trail to reconnect with nature and stretch your legs after a long day of hiking. Note this route is a crowd favorite, so we encourage you to head out in the early morning for a more secluded experience.
Setting out from the trailhead in the Campground, the Jedediah Smith Campground Hike follows the Nature Trail north. Guiding you into the lush redwood forest interspersed with mixed conifers and mushrooms, the path will near the banks of Smith River. Enjoy the sounds of the running waters and the sights of the enchanting environment. Soon the path will redirect you south, away from the river and near the forested campsites.
Meandering along this lovely path, you will eventually complete the loop. From here, head south and retrace your steps all the way back to the trailhead.
